Chapter III - Kazordoon and Thais - This chapter describes how Joran, Yvette and Quill travelled to Kazordoon and Thais.
On the journey to Kazordoon, Joran realised more and more that he had developed deep feelings for Yvette. However, he didn't dare to tell her. They continued on their journey and soon saw the high mountains of Kazordoon rising up in the distance. When they reached the gates of Kazordoon, they heard a mixture of roaring and hissing echoing across the mountains. They were admitted by the dwarves and asked for an audience with Emperor Kruzak. Yvette, Joran, and Quill were granted an audience with Emperor Kruzak. Unfortunately, he also knew nothing about the fading colours and advised them to continue their investigation in Thais. On their way through the mountains, they realized what had been roaring and hissing at the same time: a lion hydra! A fierce battle ensued. Strengthened by a song from Yvette, Joran managed to slay the lion hydra. As they passed Mount Sternum, Yvette, Joran, and Quill got lost and strayed from their path to Thais. Instead of Thais, they suddenly found themselves in the Jakundaf Desert. The suns beat down on them mercilessly and they were running out of water. They were doomed. But they received unexpected help. Three blue camels with beaks and huge ears on their backs approached them, let them ride them, and took them to an oasis. At the oasis, they were able to rest and replenish their water supplies. The blue camels, which Yvette called bluebeaks, took them to the edge of the desert. Now Yvette, Joran, and Quill could continue on their journey to Thais. On their way to Thais, they found a lost unicorn foal in the forest. Thanks to a song of Yvette, they were able to lure its mother and the foal was saved. Finally, they reached the big city of Thais. They looked around in amazement as they wandered through the streets, and Yvette wrote a song about it. The city Thais was named after Thais, a legendary warrior who founded it once. It is the capital of the Kingdom of Thais and ruled by the wise king Tibianus. Joran, Yvette, and Quill met Elane, the leader of the paladin guild. They asked her if they could speak to King Tibianus about the fading colours. Elane introduced the three to King Tibianus. The king actually had a suspicion about the missing colours: there was a painter in Thais who used magic to create almost lifelike paintings. But he had been kidnapped. There were indications that the painter had been taken to Draconia. Perhaps the fading of the colours was connected to his abduction. King Tibianus asked Joran and Yvette to travel to Draconia and free the painter. In Rain Castle, Yvette met a harpist with whom she became friends. She taught Yvette a special magical song that could wake a sleeping dragon. They went to Thais' tavern in the evening. Yvette played many of her songs, and the locals were delighted. Joran wanted to confess his feelings to Yvette that evening, but he still didn't dare. So they prepared for the journey to Draconia. Quill stayed behind, as he was not a great fighter, but the courageous Elane accompanied Joran and Yvette. Since Draconia was located in the sea north of Ab'Dendriel, they wanted to take a ship to get there faster. Yvette, Joran, and Elane set sail from Thais. They sailed past Fibula and Bounac, the Plains of Havoc, and the city of Venore. They passed through the strait between Edron and Ulderek's Rock and then approached the island of Draconia.
