Three Elements of Serenity
The number 3 is an integral pivot to customs of the monks and the development of their skills as well as highly influential to their culture as a whole. The three elements of "serenity" or "totality" which is the center of the monk's life-long strife are defined as "harmony", "enlightenment"* and "power". This elements are often symbolised by a triangle with a circle in the center. The triangle marks the elements while the circle at the core represents completeness and serenity, not necessarily perfection. The number is also reflected in the Three-Fold-Path every monk has to take once during is life-time. Every shrine that marks the path symbolises the three elements of totality and they must all be reflected upon when visiting one. The monk will then repeat a certain mantra for each of the element. These mantras can vary and every monk has personal mantras to focus unique powers.
.* "The concept of enlightenment in the lore of the warrior monks is deliberately diffuse. Complete "control" over oneself is often equal to an enlightened mind. In particular after the events of Gaan, tailspinning after becoming Sempi-Enpa and not maintaining total equilibrium.
